Nonprofit spotlight: Friends of the Earth
U.S. taxpayers hand the hugely profitable oil industry up to $5 billion a year in tax subsidies. And what do we get in return? Ocean-killing spills, toxic air pollution and an unsustainably warming planet. We get a climate-denial machine running 24/7 to oppose alternative energy.
That’s why Friends of the Earth launched the Economics for the Earth project—to redirect tax policies and public spending to make polluters pay for the costs of their pollution and drive the shift to a low-carbon economy.
Friends of the Earth is one of the many nonprofits you support as a CREDO member. In April we gave the group $77,037 to carry out their important work.
