More than a thousand concert-goers streamed into Summit Music Hall in Denver Saturday to see Rock Against the TPP, headlined by Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Prophets of Rage, and Audioslave) and a slate of performers and celebrities.

People simultaneously jammed to their favorite songs – including Morello’s version of “Solidarity Forever” and the Naughty by Nature-inspired “Down with TPP” – and learned about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). A 25-foot blimp displaying opposite-facing arrows that read “Democracy” and “TPP” flew over the venue ahead of the rally to drive home the message.

3 tips for limiting Facebook data usage

Tips for reducing data usage on Facebook app
Mobile data puts the world at your fingertips. But overage charges? Not so great. Luckily, there are ways to limit data consumption by apps like Facebook, which is one of hungrier apps on your phone. In fact, casual Facebook browsing on your phone consumes almost 2MB of data per minute. Spend 40 minutes a day at the site (the U.S. average back in 2014) and you’re using 2.4 GB of data per month on Facebook alone. And that’s not counting the data that Facebook uses while it runs in the background.

Here’s how to learn exactly how much data your Facebook app is using. On your Android device, open Settings and select Data usage. You’ll see a graph that shows your monthly data usage, below the graph, data usage by Facebook and other apps. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings and select Cellular. Scroll down to view your data usage and scroll down a bit more to see data usage by Facebook and other apps.

If you’d like to limit the data your Facebook app uses, here are three steps you can take to put Facebook on a diet of smaller bytes.

Our activism works: NBA pulls All-Star Game from North Carolina

NBA moves All-Star Game out of North Carolina

Our activism works. Today, news broke that the NBA is moving the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte because of HB 2, North Carolina’s discriminatory, anti-LGBT law.

After HB 2 passed, the NBA criticized the law as being against its values of equality and respect but NBA Commissioner Adam Silver didn’t take any real action, instead saying that the NBA was working with North Carolina officials to encourage them to back away from their anti-LGBT agenda.

It quickly became clear that North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory and the North Carolina legislature were not going to back down, and instead were going to do everything in their power to maintain state-sponsored discrimination against transgender people in their state. CREDO activists were relentless in pressuring the NBA to stop waiting for North Carolina’s politicians to do the right thing. Almost 50,000 CREDO members signed a petition to the NBA demanding it stand up for its own principles of equality and immediately move the All-Star Game. More than 7,000 CREDO Mobile members responded to a call to action in their May phone bills by sending physical letters to Commissioner Silver’s office echoing that demand. In addition, CREDO members made more than 2,000 phone calls to the commissioner urging him to act.

WARNING: Your Cell Phone Might Be Funding Hate.

Donald Trump graphic - is your cell phone funding hate?

Is your cell phone company sponsoring Donald Trump’s hate? If you are an AT&T customer the answer might be yes.

That’s because AT&T has agreed to be the official provider for “Communications, Video and Technology” at Donald Trump’s Republican National Convention.

From the moment it began, Donald Trump’s campaign has been rooted in bigotry and hate against Mexican immigrants and Muslims. Trump has encouraged his supporters to brutally target protesters at his rallies while justifying and even endorsing acts of violence committed by his supporters.

#DumpTrump: Major corporations stay away from the Republican Party’s fascist nominee

Earlier this year, CREDO teamed up with our friends at ColorOfChange as they launched a campaign demanding that corporations take a stand against Donald Trump’s hateful and toxic candidacy by refusing to sponsor the Republican National Convention (RNC).

With the Republican Party poised to coronate Donald Trump as its leader and presidential nominee tomorrow, we thought we’d give you an update on what has turned out to be a remarkably successful campaign.

Thanks to intense pressure from activists like you, in March, Coca-Cola became the first corporation to significantly reduce its contributions from previous years. Coca-Cola’s decision, which was covered widely in a variety of news outlets, opened the door for us to ramp up the pressure on other corporations. ColorOfChange worked behind the scenes, meeting with corporations to make the case for divesting from the RNC, while activists from ColorOfChange, CREDO and other progressive allies kept up the public pressure, showing the depth of support for the campaign.

#StoptheTPP video: Pelosi must join Clinton, Sanders, Warren and Reid

Momentum is building in the fight to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). In the past two days alone, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator Chuck Schumer have indicated that they do not expect the TPP to pass this year.

And on Tuesday, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton made her most direct statement yet in opposition to the TPP, telling an audience in New Hampshire that “we’re going to say no to attacks on working families and no to bad trade deals and unfair trade practices, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

Many of the most prominent leaders of the Democratic Party – including Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Harry Reid and Elizabeth Warren – are now firmly on the record in opposition to the TPP, but it is still unclear where House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi stands.

National parks: The perfect progressive vacation

Thinking about where to take your summer vacation?

Our country’s national parks, along with other public lands and recreational areas, are often ideal getaway spots. With the National Park Service turning 100 years old this summer, there has never been a better time to plan a visit to one of these natural wonders. From beaches to deserts, swamps to mountains, and even underwater, we’ve managed to preserve vast areas of great beauty.

In Baldwin County, Alabama, the national park’s beaches are made from silky white sand. In this special spot you might even see sea turtles nesting.

In Florida, the Everglades are a “World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, a Wetland of International Importance, and a specially protected area under the Cartagena Treaty.” There you can see turtles, herons, alligators, dolphins, manatees and even crocodiles. This is one of the most pristine and at-risk areas in the United States.

NEW VIDEO: Sen. Elizabeth Warren on why we need to #StoptheTPP

We are at a critical moment in the fight against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Corporate lobbyists and the Obama administration want to ram the deal through a lame-duck Congress after November. Now is the time to raise our voices, talk to friends and family, and mobilize.

That’s why Sen. Elizabeth Warren and CREDO have teamed up to produce this revealing video, in which Sen. Warren exposes a particularly dangerous and undemocratic provision of the TPP called “Investor State Dispute Settlement” or ISDS. Sen. Warren lays out in compelling detail how ISDS allows corporations to bypass traditional courts in favor of unaccountable, industry-friendly “arbitration panels.”
