Vote for these great causes in October
Each month, CREDO members help decide how we donate tens of thousands of dollars to three great nonprofit groups fighting for our progressive values. This month, you can help fund organizations fighting the climate crisis, for civil rights for disabled people and for global humanitarian aid by voting for 350.org, ADAPT and Mercy Corps. Learn more about each of these causes, and then cast your vote for one, two or all three by October 31.
350.org
350.org uses online campaigns, grassroots organizing and mass public actions to oppose new coal, oil and gas projects, take money out of the companies that are heating up the planet and build 100% clean energy solutions that work for all.
While Trump and his climate-denying administration refuse to take action to slow the climate crisis, it’s more important than ever to find new and creative ways to stop fossil fuels from burning our planet. Support from CREDO will help 350.org keep fossil fuels in the ground by halting or delaying new fossil fuel infrastructure projects through resistance and legislative tactics, weaken the power of the fossil fuel industry through divestment campaigns and by removing access to financing, keep Trump from dismantling wins from the Obama administration and much more.
ADAPT
ADAPT is a national grassroots community that organizes disability rights activists to engage in nonviolent direct action, including civil disobedience, to assure the civil & human rights of disabled people.
ADAPT members have been on the front lines to protect the Affordable Care Act and stop Trumpcare. They’ve protested and engaged in civil disobedience in the halls of Congress, in the offices of Senators across the country, and have been successful at bringing national attention to the cruel and heartless attempts by Donald Trump and Republicans to repeal health care for millions of Americans, including disabled people. Funding from CREDO members would allow ADAPT to plan and execute targeted rapid response actions by subsidizing the travel costs which prohibit many low-income disabled people from participating in these demonstrations. ADAPT’s rapid response demonstrations have already proven to be effective, and lowering economic barriers to these demonstrations will assist ADAPT ensure that the stories of the disabled people actually affected by dangerous policy changes do not go untold.
Mercy Corps
Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. They empower people in over 40 countries to recover from crisis, build better lives and transform their communities for good.
The widespread destruction and suffering caused by the recent unprecedented hurricanes fueled by runaway climate change proves how important the work Mercy Corps does. Support from CREDO will enable Mercy Corps to respond quickly after a disaster to urgent humanitarian needs — food, shelter, water, sanitation ‒ and quickly pivot to early recovery, restarting local markets to enable sustainable recovery.
Your vote this October will determine how we divide our monthly donation among these three progressive causes. Be sure to cast your vote to support one, two or all three by October 31.
