CREDO Mobile will never sell your data
This week, irresponsible Republicans in Congress caved to powerful lobbies and voted to kill American consumers’ internet privacy with legislation that would allow internet service providers and mobile carriers like Comcast, AT&T and Verizon to sell your private internet data to the highest bidder without your permission. Whether you’ve searched for an illness, looked up information about a political protest or browsed sensitive material, your private data will be for sale. It’s a violation of consumer privacy that goes against everything CREDO believes in.
As The Washington Post reports, “providers will be able to monitor their customers’ behavior online and, without their permission, use their personal and financial information to sell highly targeted ads — making them rivals to Google and Facebook in the $83 billion online advertising market.”
“In other words, AT&T could, in theory, sell to the highest bidder a list of the websites you’ve visited and the frequency with which you visited them.”
CREDO Mobile will never sell your data. At CREDO, we stand for protecting your internet privacy and have a long history of fighting for it. That’s just not the case for other mobile carriers and internet service providers. CREDO Mobile has been awarded the highest rating from the Electronic Frontier Foundation for our privacy practices – the only mobile carrier to receive five stars.
While CREDO continues to fight for your basic privacy rights, other carriers have sold out their customers’ privacy to the government. AT&T continues to be an enthusiastic surveillance partner of the NSA, and their “extreme willingness to help the NSA” to spy on Americans was detailed in The New York Times just last year.
With our network of over five million activists, we’ll also keep fighting for your online rights to protect net neutrality and prevent internet providers from blocking content at their sole discretion or charging websites a fee to reach consumers over faster internet speeds.
And we will keep fighting with our donations to progressive organizations who will stand up to protect your privacy. Through CREDO Donations, we’ve given well over $2 million to groups working to stop government surveillance and maintain basic privacy rights including the ACLU, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Demand Progress, Fight for the Future and Defending Rights & Dissent.
