Vote for three great progressive groups in September

One of the things that makes a grant from CREDO so special is that it comes with no strings attached. Most foundations and donors put caveats on their funding, restricting what organizations can and can’t do with it.

CREDO, on the other hand, chooses three progressive groups each month who are already doing incredible work and then lets you decide how to divide our monthly donation among them. The groups can use those funds to keep doing what they’re doing or to expand their efforts.

For September we’ve selected OUR Walmart, Public Citizen – Stop the TPP and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Each of these groups is a critical part of the progressive infrastructure. Take a minute to learn about their exciting work and then vote for one, two or all three.

OUR Walmart organization logo OUR Walmart
OUR Walmart is leading the fight to raise pay and transform working conditions at Walmart, as well as to change the way that low-wage workers come together for support and action through innovative online organizing strategies. CREDO worked with OUR Walmart to deliver 200,000 petition signatures to the company’s shareholder meeting last June, demanding it raise its employees’ minimum wage to $15 per hour.

CREDO member contributions will help finish development of a digital platform for workplace peer support and pathways to action in the palms of people’s hands. This platform will provide Walmart’s 1.4 million workers across the country with access to information and resources that will make immediate improvements in their work lives and will be a vehicle to connect them to national efforts to change Walmart’s policies.

Public Citizen organization logoPublic Citizen – Stop the TPP
Public Citizen has been a leading partner with CREDO in the fight against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) as part of its mission to take on corporate power and fight for justice and democracy. Lori Wallach, the director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch program, is one of the world’s leading experts on trade treaties and an incredible resource in the progressive community. CREDO recently partnered with Public Citizen and other progressive organizations to ask Hillary Clinton to voice her opposition to Congress acting on the TPP during the lame duck session of Congress.

With the help of CREDO activists, Public Citizen is planning a substantial grassroots effort to defeat the TPP and is advancing money-in-politics reform, among other efforts. Leading up to the election, it will launch a variety of democracy-mobilization efforts.

Southern Poverty Law Center organization logoSouthern Poverty Law Center
The SPLC has been one of the leading organizations in the United States fighting bigotry and hatred in all its forms. What began as a small civil rights law firm has grown into an internationally recognized social justice organization known for its path-breaking litigation, pioneering efforts to expose and marginalize domestic extremists in the U.S., and award-winning anti-bias education resources. The support grant of CREDO members will allow the SPLC to build on this tradition of excellence as it furthers its efforts to fight hate, seek justice, and teach tolerance.

Your votes will decide how CREDO distributes funding to these three incredible groups. Please cast your vote to support one, two or all three by September 30.
