CREDO celebrates Supreme Court’s legalization of gay marriage
Today, the Supreme Court legalized marriage equality across the U.S.
Congratulations. We now pronounce this country a better place.
Here at CREDO, we’ve been working for marriage equality and LGBT rights for 30 years, since the day we opened our doors. So we’re thrilled the high court has finally made same-sex marriage legal nationwide. And we hope you’re as happy as we are.
Over 250,000 CREDO members have taken action for marriage equality over the years. Together, we’ve fought to win the freedom to marry in states around the U.S, including California, Washington, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Maine, Maryland, Virginia, New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We’ve fought hard against the ban on gays in the military, workplace discrimination against LGBT workers and the Defense of Marriage Act.
And we’ve donated millions of dollars to groups like the National LGBTQ Task Force, Freedom to Marry, Courage Campaign, Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Campaign and the ACLU. CREDO mobile, long distance, and credit card members make these donations possible.
“The Task Force has been fighting to advance justice and freedom for LGBTQ people since 1973–including the freedom to marry. We are extremely happy with the Supreme Court’s decision. And we’re thankful to CREDO for helping make that happen through their support of us and others working toward equality and justice for all.”
—Russel Roybal, Deputy Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force
