Workers win big wage victories
At Walmart, about 500,000 hourly workers will be getting a raise, thanks in part to CREDO members who launched campaigns calling on Walmart and its directors for higher wages. CREDO members have supported this fight by donating $50,332 in 2014 to OUR Walmart, which helps Walmart workers organize for fair wages and humane working conditions.
Also, in New York, Labor Commissioner Musolino recently announced a raise to $7.50 of the tipped minimum wage, which had previously been stalled at $5 per hour since 2011, keeping many tipped workers in poverty. Over 3,400 CREDO Action members in New York submitted public comments in support of raising the subminimum wage for the quarter-million tipped workers.
