How CREDO members voted to donate $202,125 in July

CREDO members helped us decide how to donate $202,125 in July. We’re please to share the results!

Here’s how we donated last month:

$79,961 to Planned Parenthood. This organization fights fearlessly to protect women’s access to reproductive healthcare and counters right-wing attacks on birth control and abortion access.

Introducing CREDOClimateHeroes.com

I’m excited to announce the launch of CREDO Climate Heroes, an activist grant program that will give $500 to 50 activists or small groups who are protesting, blockading and confronting the fossil fuel industry and the decision-makers who are standing on the wrong side of history.

In launching CREDO Climate Heroes, we’re taking inspiration from folks like the Shell No protesters in Portland. When our elected leaders fail us and greenlight carbon-intensive extraction, these are the folks who step up, put their bodies on the line, and physically stop the machines that are warming the planet.

Video explainer: Preventing a war with Iran

CREDO members and our allies have signed over 223,000 petitions (which we recently delivered to Congress) and made over 43,000 calls to Congress asking Democrats to support diplomacy with Iran. Amazing.

Our work opposing the deal was recently called out in a Washington Post article.

But our work is not done. This video explains how Republicans are trying to sabotage the historic nuclear deal and start a war – and what we need to do to stop them.

Join hundreds of thousands of activists who support the Iran nuclear peace deal with your petition signature.

400,000 signatures against war with Iran

On Wednesday, we issued a powerful challenge to Democrats in Congress: Support the Iran nuclear peace deal, or prepare to answer to your constituents for sabotaging diplomacy and pushing for war.

On Capitol Hill, Congressional Progressive Caucus members Reps. Keith Ellison, Barbara Lee, Mark Pocan and Jan Schakowsky joined CREDO and a huge coalition of our allies to deliver more than 400,000 petition signatures telling Democrats not to help Republicans start a war with Iran (view photos from the event here).

90,000 activists demand investigation of child imprisonment

Over 90,000 activists have urged Attorney General Loretta Lynch to investigate the practice of putting children in adult prisons!

This miscarriage of justice has to end. We’re delivering our petition to the attorney general next week, and we can make an even bigger impact if we can get to 100,000 signers. Can you help us reach this goal?

Sign the petition today, or share this action with your friends and family via email, Facebook, or Twitter.

It’s a nightmare that plays out across the country. Children are jailed in adult prisons, where they are subject to physical and psychological abuse that leaves lifelong scars.

Petition: The Monsanto Protection Act is back — and worse than before

Label GMOs!

The biggest threat to GMO labeling that we’ve ever seen could soon become law if we don’t act now.

Republican Congressman Mike Pompeo, Monsanto’s hand-picked representative in Washington, has combined his anti-GMO labeling bill, the “DARK Act,” with the Monsanto Protection Act – and it’s even worse than before.

This newly revised Monsanto Protection Act would not only prevent states from enacting their own GMO labeling laws, but it would go even further by nullifying all existing restrictions on GMO crops already on the books. It could even make it a crime to label foods as “GMO-free.”

Tell Congress: Stop the new Monsanto Protection Act.

Tell us how to donate close to $200,000 in July

New look, same great mission. Our donations website recently got a makeover—we hope you like our new look.

CREDO gives away nearly $200,000 each month three progressive groups. How much does each group get? That totally depends on you. So please, cast your vote today. It only takes a minute. Here’s who we’re funding this month:

Petition: Fix the Voting Rights Act now

Fix the Voting Rights Act now!

Fifty years ago this summer, at the height of the civil rights movement, Congress passed and President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act to prohibit racial discrimination in voting. The law wasn’t perfect, but it frequently stopped states with a history of discriminatory voting laws from preventing African-Americans and Latinos from voting.

But In 2013, the right-wing ideologues on the United States Supreme Court handed down a shameful decision that gutted the Voting Rights Act, ending decades of protection for minorities against discriminatory and unfair attempts to limit voting based on one’s race.

Progressive champions in Congress have just introduced the Voting Rights Advancement Act, which would restore the Voting Rights Act and stop Republicans in states around the country from enacting racist voter ID and voter suppression laws. We need to keep the pressure on Congress to crack down on racial discrimination in voting.

Sign the petition: Stop voter suppression and pass the Voting Rights Advancement Act.
