Rock Against the TPP kick-off concert in Denver draws huge crowds
More than a thousand concert-goers streamed into Summit Music Hall in Denver Saturday to see Rock Against the TPP, headlined by Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Prophets of Rage, and Audioslave) and a slate of performers and celebrities.
People simultaneously jammed to their favorite songs – including Morello’s version of “Solidarity Forever” and the Naughty by Nature-inspired “Down with TPP” – and learned about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). A 25-foot blimp displaying opposite-facing arrows that read “Democracy” and “TPP” flew over the venue ahead of the rally to drive home the message.
CREDO is excited to team up with our friends at Fight for the Future, Morello, and a diverse group of celebrities, labor and progressive organizations to organize Rock Against the TPP––a nationwide roadshow to mobilize a push against the secretive corporate trade deal that threatens to hurt workers, undermine the economy, harm the environment, and more.
As performers connected their music with educating the public about the grave threat the TPP poses to our most basic rights – the event culminated in an unforgettable finale.
Other performers on hand were popular punk band Anti-Flag, bilingual punk band Downtown Boys, hip-hop act Jonny 5 and Brer Rabbit of Flobots and more.
Upcoming shows are in San Diego on July 30th, Seattle on August 19th and Portland, Ore. on August 20th. Additional tour dates will be announced soon. Click to learn more about the TPP and to get a free ticket for an upcoming show by signing a petition.
