Three progressive podcasts you’ll love listening to
Last month I recommended three great progressive apps for your smartphone: Progressive Voices, Earth-Now and the ACLU’s Mobile Justice App. Listening to podcasts is another way you can use your smartphone to participate in progressive causes. To find and listen to podcasts on your phone, you can download a podcast app, like Podcast Addict for Android or Overcast for iOS, then search for the podcasts mentioned below.
These are three of my favorite progressive podcasts:
Democracy Now!
Hosted by award-winning journalists Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, Democracy Now! brings you perspectives you often don’t hear in the mainstream media. It offers true debate and progressive values without the filter of giant media corporations. Its reports give listeners a truly global perspective from “journalists, ordinary people from around the world who are directly affected by U.S. foreign policy, grassroots leaders and peace activists.” The show airs five days a week and typically includes daily headlines, followed by in-depth segments on the pressing issues of the moment. CREDO is a longstanding and proud supporter of Democracy Now!, contributing $674,248 to support the program.
Majority Report with Sam Seder
Sam Seder’s podcast, the Majority Report, brings you a daily take on the news, giving you all the information you need with a sense of humor. Sam covers the political world, with guests offering intelligent perspectives and commentary you won’t hear anywhere else. The Majority Report is a breath of fresh air during a midday glutted with shout fests on cable TV. Broadcasting every weekday, this is one political podcast you should not miss.
Daily Kos Radio’s Kagro in the Morning
Daily Kos Radio’s Kagro in the Morning, hosted by David Waldman, is everything we love about Daily Kos, now in a podcast. Information, informed opinion, expert analysis — all are a part of this exceptional show. For more than a decade, Daily Kos has been the number-one progressive blog in the United States. With thousands of contributors and can’t-miss frontpage writers, the blog is a must-read for every progressive. Now you can get the same great coverage on Daily Kos Radio’s Kagro in the Morning podcast.
Of course, there are many other great progressive podcasts. Tweet us @CREDOMobile and tell us your favorites. Maybe we’ll feature them in an upcoming blog post.
And remember, the most progressive thing you can do with your phone is to make sure it’s powered by CREDO Mobile—America’s only progressive phone company.
